Remembering the Zanzibar Cocktail Bar Acharavi Corfu

So what happened to Zanzibar?

A question asked by many, what exactly became of one of our favourite Acharavi bars?

Zanzibar was a very popular cocktail bar in the old village of Acharavi for around 4 years.  Run by husband & wife team Anne & Steve it attracted those who enjoyed great cocktails accompanied by equally great music and a cosy atmosphere.

Towards the end of 2002 Anne & Steve took the very difficult decision to give up running the bar.  Whilst it was a tough decision they believed it was the right one as running a bar isn't easy, particularly bearing in mind that Steve already had a full time daytime job as a builder, combined with the fact that some of the nights were very late indeed!

During 2002 Steve's building talents were in ever increasing demand , so it was decided that it was time for a change and the bar went on the market.
Another couple took the bar on and ran it as a rock music bar during 2003, but sadly the premises are closed this year.

Because the decision to sell was taken quite late in the year, Anne & Steve were unable to say goodbye and many thanks to the many lovely people who visited Zanzibar during the time they ran it.

As for Anne & Steve themselves, they are both in good health, still living near Acharavi and still very much part of the community.

So we say thanks to Anne & Steve and all the good people who visited during those years, as we remember the great times we had.
